本书在第六章提过，麦格教授让小巫师去挑魔杖，而家长则随着她去买其他入学用品。
“我们先去摩金夫人那儿，将孩子们长袍买好。然后让孩子们去挑魔杖，可能得花点儿时间，家长们正好跟我去买其余的工具。”
2.级长。

A prefect at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was a student who had been given extra authority and responsibilities by the Head of House and Headmaster. One male and one female student were chosen from each house in their fifth year to act as prefects. They would continue to be prefects in their sixth and seventh years until they left school.
Thus， there were approximately six prefects per house and twenty-four prefects in the whole school at one time. Prefects could become Head Boy or Girl， and would still serve as prefect as well. Being a prefect didn't guarantee a student to become a Head Boy or Girl， in fact， the Head Boy or Girl did not have to have been a prefect at all.
由此可知，每个学院会在五年级时挑选一位男生和一位女生担任级长职务，一个学院可能同时存在6名级长（从五年级到七年级各两名），而不是每个年级都有两位级长。
七年级的级长结业后，会有两名新的级长从五年级学生中降生，所以可以被称为“接替”。
另外，学生会主席更容易从级长中降生，也可以不是级长，如詹姆·波特。

原著第二部《哈利·波特与密室》第五章“吉德罗·洛哈特”提到，贾斯廷·芬列里原本是要去伊顿公学的，并非是我杜撰。
